"Save as PDF" broken...

Ok, I have been having this problem with OS X since 10.3 and it still remains with 10.4. I have confirmed that this issue is also present on other Macs running 10.4 also.

If you use the "Save as PDF" feature of OS X to save an HTML page or document that is more than 40 pages, it craps out when viewing it on PCs using Acrobat Reader v.5 or 6 (haven't tried 7 yet).

What do I mean by "craps out"?

Let's say I have a 42-page HTML page I saved from safari. Around page 38 all the text stops and crunches together at the bottom of the page. The remaining pages only display the background and images. No text.

So I copied the contents into textedit and repeated the "save as PDF" process. Same results.

Now here's the strange thing...

Preview displays these PDFs perfectly fine. But Acrobat on a PC doesn't. And Acrobat is the popular PDF viewer for PC.

I contacted Apple regarding this during Panther and it seems like they haven't fixed it yet.

Does anyone else have trouble with PDFs (40 pages or more) created with OS X?
