How do i make my iMac identify itself?

Hey folks
In my router settings, my iMac shows up as 'unknown name'- does anybody know how i give it a name and make it identify itself to networks?

Either in the "Sharing" preference pane or in the Network "DHCP Client ID" box.
My router sometimes shows it, and sometimes not. I never could figure out the reason.
