FiOS and Airport

Verizon now offers FiOS or Fiber Optic system in my neighborhood. Looking at there system requirements though, it appears that it you need to buy there wireless router, because of "error correcting software". I just wondered if anyone out there has gotten FiOS and if it works and plays well with an Airport Extreme Base Station or if I would have to buy their router.

    I have FIOS, and I am using my own wireless router (Belkin). The techs brought the Verizon supplied one (Dlink), but they didn't care if I used it or not, so it is still in the box.
