Delicious Developer To Have New Macintel Version For MWSF
Yup! Heard on Cocoa Radio that Wil Shipley will be releasing version 1.6 of Delicious Library at MWSF. It will be completely rewritten in Cocoa (including utilizing the new QT kit) and will run on the new Intel Macs. He has pushed back the release of version 2 by a month (originally due around the end of February - beginning of March).
So this begs the question, "Why delay the new release when it's so close in order to incoporate Intel compatablility in the interim?" He must know (or at least feel pretty strongly) that there will be new Intel machines hitting the shelves soon.

Delicious Library is already a Cocoa app. Are you saying it's being rewritten from scratch this early?
I know your real question is "why would he do this if Intel Macs weren't right around the corner"...the answer to this is that he doesn't know for sure...he's guessing based on the rumor build-up during the last 2 months.

Well, I'm talking about Core Data and the completey new QuickTime stuff along with Core Image. This is what the essence of Delicious Library is. None of this was available when the 1.0 version was released. So yes, it is being rewritten. Just listen to their newest interview. www.cocoaradio.com
But yes, you are right in that he doesn't know for SURE that there will be new Intel hardware at MWSF but as a developer, you can recognize the hints available to you ? hints like an increase in the frequency of beta releases just before a final release, etc. etc...

he said he is re-working the isight scanning for the new imacs, which does not have auto-focus. He is talking some time of DL 2.0 to fix that issue. also, he said that now he is using QTkit for the isight scanning. pretty cool
He is a non-apple, so he could not have information about the intel releases. Every developer is tring to have universal binaries as soon as possible
Wil seems like a cool guy...
have fun
