Buy an equally or better-equipped PC laptop and install OS X on it?

My plan is to get an iMac, then pick up the new iBook later. That gives me a "base" system that is as fast as possible, with a slower "satellite" system later for almost the same price as a fast laptop today.

    At least that's the plan.

I was going to save up for it, now not so sure. FW800 I could live without, but no s-video? That changes things a little bit. I might end up going the iMac/intel iBook route later this year. Just waiting for tax refunds and commission checks to come through.

Can't you use an adaptor on the DVI output?

Personally, I'm waiting for a 15" Merom based PowerBook (er... MacBook (yuk)). Ideally, I'd like a higher resolution display, but I'm not sure if Apple will deliver on that
