iTunes: "Look for shared music" default?

Does anyone know if iTunes' "Look for shared music" option is on or off by default? i.e.: On a new Mac or a fresh install of iTunes on Windows, does iTunes look for shared music?

    I can't remember anymore.

    Though to check whether "Look for shared music"

    is on or off by default, just create a new user account, launch

    iTunes and look, what iTune's prefs tells you.
