My Grandpa just is starting to use his computer, and he wants a poker game. I was thinking I'd get him one for fathers day.

I had one years ago, but have since losdt it. I wondered if anyone knew of a simple but fun one.

if you get him an internet connection, he can play online for free! i am addicted to video poker at pogo.com (among other games). i used to have Caesar's Palace, which had at least 5 or 6 simple-but-fun casino games in addition to poker. maybe he'd like to have the extra games just in case?

good for your grandpa! im glad he's not afraid to start learning the computer. you go, grandpa!!!!!

I just tried <a href="http://www.ouzts.net/iPoker/"; target="_blank">iPoker</a> and it's pretty cool. It's got some 79 styles of poker available! (even my own favorite: Dr. Pepper )

He's using OS 9. He actually was very afraid of using the computer. He bought it last december (2000) and hasn't touched it til about a month ago. My Grandma has been using it.

I know you can do it online, but they only have 1 phone line, and if he gets addicted, they'll never get any calls!

The one I used to have I found out was called Hoyles. It had video poker, slots, and horse racing. That's what I want for him.

I remember having the Hoyle "suite" of games waaaaay back in the day on my Performa 475 (ugh...my first machine). It was bundled with the OS (7.1?) I think... Anyhow, you could beg someone to dig out the old "restore" disks for an ancient mac. They may be there...

Another place to check would be the MIT Hyperarchive which has droves of crappy shareware games for OS 9. There is most likely a half-way decent poker game there.

Finally, I think there is a game called "Mike's Cards", but if I remember correctly it is for OS X, so might not help too much.
