deleting autocomplete

Is it possible to delete specific words in autocomplete without deleting the whole thing? I know you can "Reset Safari" but that gets rid of everything. I jsut want to get rid of a few things in the google search field. I know you could just hover over it with the mouse in windows and press delete but that doesn't seem to work under Safari. Anyone know how to do this?

This will delete ALL of the recent search strings - you have to relaunch Safari to clear the cache though.

    defaults delete com.apple.safari RecentSearchStrings

    enter that in Terminal.

To delete only certain ones, you'd have to use the Property List Editor that comes with the Developer Tools.
