CD problems

I'm new to the Mac world. I just got my mini intel core solo on Monday. I've been using iTunes to import songs from my CD collection and half the time when I put the CD in the drive I get a grey screen that says my computer must be restarted.

Does anyone know what could be causing this or how I can fix it?

I'm getting the same thing, intermittently, on an older G4 system. This only started when I upgraded iTunes to 6.0.4. Sounds like a bug to me. \

That's a kernel panic. Almost always due to hardware problems.

    - Did you add memory?

    - Do you have external FireWire or USB devices except for a Mac keyboard and mouse?

    - Does the CD drive work OK with non-iTunes things?

Run the Hardware Test that came with your computer.
