I'm thinking about buy in UT GOTY edition but I had a few questions. First of all, will it run in OS X? Will I be able to play on a windows network? How will it perform on a New iMac? Thanks.

No, yes and should be more than okay.

Do yourself a favor and get RTCW instead. The multi-player stuff is much better, since it has at least some true tactics.

Also look at the new release medal of Honor from EA......I've heard the single player is very good!!

It doesn't run in true OS X, but it will run in Classic. I run it on my iBook in OS X all the time.

there is a pre-release OS X patch available for download. Haven't used it in months. I would assume its a bit better than the version I used way back then

I just needed it for some LAN party's. I play RTCW and it's great Thanks for the information.

One more thing, does it run on windows networks? I'm not sure if someone said if it did or not. Thanks.

If you're asking if you can play UT on your mac against people on PC's then yes. But make sure you have the same version number. If they patch thiers and you don't, then chances are, you won't be able to play.

Also, just so you know. I just bought a copy of "Quake III Gold." It comes with Q3A full version, and the "Team Arena" addon. I paid $30 for it new in the store, and the best part is...it comes with the Mac & PC versions on the same disc. So that is the ultimate cross platform package. <img src="graemlins/surprised.gif" border="0" alt="[Surprised]" />

The OSX version of UT isn't as good as the Classic one just yet, but it is still very playable, and they are still working on it. New updates are put on VersionTracker etc every now and again.

Given that I play on an old 350MHz, it should be fine. It was really slow on my machine with 64MB (unsurprisingly ), but when I put in 256MB and npw 384Mb, it rocks!

I would still buy UT, it ain't the best graphics any more, but it is a good basic game, and you can get so many maps (literally thousands) and other add-ons, you can quite happily play it forever!

Question? with the UTX2p for OSX patch would I be able to play online with other people?

I have UT 436 in os 9 and it never really lets me connect without freexing up . . and I have all the latest updates for that OS?
