Received iPod Battery Settlement

I received my iPod battery settlement in today's mail. I had mailed the claim form 6 June 2005 and opted for the $50 store credit.

I was surprised about how restrictive the store credit was, although that had probably been spelled out in the small print that no one bothers to read. Even though it says "store" credit, it's redeemable only directly from Apple, either by the internet, from an internet kiosk at an Apple Store, or by calling Apple. It can not be used at a "brick-and-mortar" Apple Store, which means shipping and handling charges. The credit is good only for Apple-branded hardware or Apple-branded software. It specifically excludes iTunes downloads, iTune Music Store Cards, Music Store Gift Certificates, or any products redeemable for iTunes downloads or cash.

Store credit expires 14 October 2007.

So that's the good news and the bad. Now to figure out whether I want to upgrade from 10.3.9 or maybe get iLife 06 or wait for 10.5.
