Battery calibration question

Hi

I've got a question. Wonder if people can help since nothing turns up on Google. Everyone seems to understand this just fine, so is it just me that's dumb?

Anyways, the manual of the MBP says:

Quote:

5.Turn off the computer or allow it to sleep for five hours or longer.

OR let it sleep? As I understand, when the Mac goes into sleep mode, the battery isn't necessarily flat yet. Thus let it lie there for another 5 hours. Now I think this is rather silly for a user since it means your Mac's outta commission, especially if you follow the instructions and do this every TWO months! So I don't plan on waiting that long. The other option is "turn it off"?? What does that mean? Hold the power down and let it "hard" switch off? Or shutdown? But either way, I don't see how this will help in depleting the battery any further than its current state.

Anyone know?

Thanks
