Haven't seen a thread on this for a while.

Patty Griffin's 1000 Kisses -- the whole frelling masterpiece.

Be Careful

All the girls in the Paris night

All the girls in the pale moonlight

All the girls with the shopping bags

All the girls with the washing rags

All the girls on the telephone

All the girls standing all alone

All the girls sitting on the wire

One by one fly into the fire

Be careful how you bend me

Be careful where you send me

Careful how you end me

Be careful with me

All the girls standing by your beds

All the girls standing on their heads

All the girls with the broken arms

All the girls with the deadly charms

All the girls in the restaurant

Pretending to be nonchalant

Funny girls on the TV shows

Close your eyes and they turn to snow

Be careful how you bend me

Be careful where you send me

Careful how you end me

Be careful with me

    'Cause,

The cute girl on American Idol sang a very good arrangement of "Somewhere over the Rainbow" and I wanted to hear the best version since Judy Garland sang way back when in the OZ flick.

Listen to ANYTHING by Eva and be blown away. Most folk don't know about her on this side of the pond. (I don't know why) Unfortunately she died a few years ago at age 30 so there is only a very limited number of tunes.

    Only the good die young.

I will NEVER forget the first time I heard Eva. I was out getting ready to leave the house and had the radio on in the car and her "Somewhere over the Rainbow" was flowing from my car and it took me ever so gently. From that point I had to have her music!

Knowing she passed makes her music that much more powerful considering the subjects covered in her lyrics.

    Just beautiful and extremely powerful.

    Lene Marlin "Faces"

Pour me some wine, join me tonight

Surround me with your happy faces

Share some fun stories, stay up all night

Surround me with your friendly faces

Then look at me, when I'm not aware

Then you'll see, I cannot do without you

I'll be right there, if you ask me to

If you're feeling sad, I'll stay with you

And if you're scared, I'll hold your hand

Like I know you'd do for me too, like I know

    You'd do for me too

Pour me some wine, join me tonight

Life is so good when I'm with you

I needed the laughs, I needed you tonight

So look at me, when I'm not aware

Then you'll see, I cannot do without you

I'll be right there, if you ask me to

If you're feeling sad, I'll stay with you

And if you're scared, I'll hold your hand

Like I know you'd do for me too.

I'll be right there, if you ask me to

If you're feeling sad, I'll stay with you

And if you're scared, I'll hold your hand

PG has been amazing for a LONG, LONG TIME. I first discovered her on the sountrack to Niagara, Niagara.

Lately, I've been listening to a lot of Coldplay, Damien Rice, and James Hunter (like Sam Cooke? You'll LOVE him!!!).

I also recently re-acquired Yo-Yo Ma's unaccompanied Bach Cello suites.

Ah May the Red Rose Live Always - Suzy Bogguss - Beautiful Dreamer, The Songs of Stephen Foster.

Has anyone else noticed this trend where websites can add a playlist of fm/cd quality playlists using flash? It just isn't fair! I'm going to be living in a box in a damn week if they don't stop. Us music sluts deserve a little shelter from great music so we don't spend ourselves into the street.

Also check out the song above on iTunes. My cardboard box has plenty of room.

I've been listening to Australian comedy band Tripod lately. Not much available on US iTunes, but here are some videos:

    Gonna make you happy tonight

Ghost Ship (my sig has a line from it)

Ain't no oil in the Congo

Also look for "Hot girl in the comic shop" if you can find it.

Thanks to way too many internet fads and memes spawned from it, this has been stuck in my head and burned into my vision all week now.

IT'S FUNNY BECAUSE YOU HAVE PRETENDED TO TAKE IT LITERALLY INSTEAD OF FIGURATIVELY AND POST A PICTURE OF EARWAX, WHICH IS HUMOROUS BECAUSE IT REINFORCES YOUR AFFECTED MISUNDERSTANDING

I've been listening to Won't Back Down by Tom Petty on loop for almost a week now. It got me through the assembly of my final binder for English/History and now it'll get me through the assembly of my oral presentation.

OMFG THAT IS SO AWESOME and the GIRL HAS A MILLA JOVOVICH STYLE PINK-PURPLE HAIR AND THE POST-JIMHENSON MUPPETS !!!! AND THE GIRL IS LIKE LIP-SYNCING IT (or maybe that's just video lag or something) And she's like pointing to a super large recipe-type book which is blank!!

It's a piece of cake to make a pretty cake

    It's the way is hazy(?)

You gotta do the cooking by the book

You know you can't be lazy

    Never use a method recipe(?)

The cake will end up crazy

If you do the cooking by the book

    Then you'll have a... Cake!

    We gotta have it made

You know that I love cake

Finally it's time to make a... Cake!

You gotta do the cooking by the book..!

    Brilliant. Grammy award winning stuff.
