Ok, so I have a PC and I want to have MC. I was wondering if I buy a Tuner card for my PC, would I be able to install MCE or no? What else is needed to install MCE, and is it possible to get an install somewhere? I don't see how they couldn't sell it or how I couldn't find it being because if someones computer crashes (love MS for making you worry about that lol), you need to be able to install the OS again some how.

OK, so I have come to realize that you can not buy Windows MCE, you need to buy a PC with it pre-installed. I hate microsoft, anything to get a buck out of you. Im about to throw my PC out the window just because I've had it with MS. Thank god im getting nothing but Apple products from now on. MBP and a tower when they come out and I will be MS free!!

What you've come to realize is wrong. You *can* get MCE by getting the OEM version. For example, you can get it at NewEgg:

You can install it first, and get a TV capture device later. When you attach the TV capture device, TV viewing will automagically show up in MCE; until then, you'll only have access to all the non-TV features of MCE.

I suggest you get an external tuner device (USB2). You can even run MCE on a MacBook Pro, using Boot Camp:

I myself have MCE installed on my MacBook Pro, but I don't have an external tuner (yet?).

You may also consider TV options for MacOS X:

I have the Miglia TVMini HD, and it's great -- but note that ElGato's media software doesn't come close to the features of MCE. (For one, it lacks an interface that works from the couch.)

I hope some of this info is useful to you.

Just make sure you get a Tuner card with hardware MPEG2 encoding.

I would recommend a card based on the Ati Theater 550 or 550 Pro chip.
