MBP Memory Upgrade?

in Current Mac Hardware edited January 2014
I've got a 1.8GHz MBP, with the bog standard 512mb of RAM, can anyone reccommend the cheapest place to buy more memory from, or got any tips etc. I don't know much about the hardware side of macs, more a software man.

I was also told that upgrading the memory would reduce the heat kicked out by the MBP, as when it needs more memory it uses the virtual memory, putting more strain on the HD, is this true? Or am I talking total cr*p!!!!!

Any help is welcome.

I'm not sure about reducing the heat, it will always be hot .

I have already purchased my ram from www.ramjet.com. I have never had an problems. I have had it is powerbook, powermacs, a macbook, and a macbook pro. No problem at all, it always passes the apple hardware test. Pretty good prices too.
