Maintain net connectivity when lid is down on MBP?

Every time I close my lid on my computer my net connection disapears, I download during the night and I want to be able to download but don't want to keep my lid up because i keep my laptop in my room usually....



How can I make sure my net stays connected?

    Two options. 1) Plug in an external keyboard and monitor, then turn off the monitor; or 2) Leave the lid slightly open and set the display sleep to dim almost immediately, but not sleep the computer.

    3) (not recommended) use the Insomnia kernel extension to disable lid-shut sleep.
