    Posting Guidelines

    9. Be descriptive with the title of new threads. Do not start a thread with an ambiguous title like "Guess what..." and then use the text portion of the post to explain. Give your post a headline. This courtesy is especially appreciated in the more highly trafficked forums. Furthermore, threads with no original content will not be allowed. Do not post a link or quote an article while contributing little to nothing of your own.

    specs

    The 17-inch 1.83 GHz iMac, for a suggested education price of $899 (US), includes:

    * 17-inch widescreen LCD display;

    * 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo processor;

    * 512MB of 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM expandable to 2GB;

    * 24x Combo drive;

    * Intel GMA 950 graphics;

    * built-in iSight video camera;

    * built-in AirPort Extreme wireless networking;

    * 80GB Serial ATA hard drive running at 7200 rpm;

    * mini-DVI out (adapters for DVI, VGA and Composite/S-Video sold separately);

    * built-in stereo speakers and microphone; and

    * Mighty Mouse and Apple Keyboard.

    Not a bad deal. Just like when the eMac was announced there is going to be an outcry of why this model isn't available to the general public. I guarantee it.

    i think the title said it all.

    the link said everything i could say and more.

    sometimes rules are meant to be 'bended.'

    F(=*= A right.

    Main diffs that I can see.

    80GB less HDD

    No Bluetooth

    No Apple Remote

    No Superdrive

    No X1600 graphics

    I'd still be tempted to buy one though. I love the form factor.

    Built in iSight? Sounds like a waste of money for a computer lab unit. Could've trimmed it down to an even more attractive $849.
