ms remote dekstop client connection problems

HELP! I am excited to use this, but have had problems. I have an imac and a sony vaio with winXP. They share a cable modem. Dumb question, I know, but how do I connect the two. I have entered IP address of vaio but I get a "can;t connect" message. Thanks for any help or any step by steps. Maybe I am missing a subtlety somewhere.

Which version of XP are you using, Home or Professional? My guess is, your using XP Home, but that doesn't work with the MS remote desktop. Take a look at:

And if you are using Pro, you must enable remote Desktop. Start-&gt;Control Panel-&gt;System-&gt;Remote tab

check off "allow users to connect remotely to this computer"
