Enabling Email Accounts For Mac Users in Active Directory?

I am trying to build a test email server on OS X Server 10.4.7. All my users and servers are in an Active Directory 2003 domain directory. Nothing fancy - just a few simple accounts to play with.

I got all my DNS and MX stuff configured and I began the task of setting up the mail server...

I discovered that Mac & Windows users who have valid accounts in AD 2003 can't have an email accounts enabled. WGM acts like its attempting to enable email but then reverts back to "disabled" upon refreshing WGM.

I assume the users email account must be configured in AD via the Active Directory Users and Groups admin tool before it can be enabled in WGM on the OS X email server, but I havent had any luck getting it to work yet.

Am I missing something? I have used most of Apple's services in OS X server over the years, but I have never had an opprutunity to set up an email server until now, so I'm a self-admitted noob in the email realm
