I used to know of a few services that make it seem transparent. Basically, you upload your word doc or whatever, and they will fax it out for you... One such service is <a href="http://www.efax.com"; target="_blank">Efax</a>
They act as a bi-directional portal; from e-mail to fax, and vice versa. You can even get your own dedicated # for receiving faxes if you so choose. I think that their fees are quite modest, and do not know of a free solution that will meet your needs. Good luck.
