Offline files is the biggest pile of doo doo in the Windows world. Yet, people still seem to use it...

So, my question is, is there a unix/linux equivalent?

It was vague to non-Windows users. I think you're talking about this:

I guess on Unix, you could use Subversion/CVS.

Seems like a bit of overkill, instead, you could use rsync. It's already installed on every Mac, after all: /usr/bin/rsync

Really needs a nice app over the top though, something where you could just say "link this file and that file, and on attaching to the network sync to the master, and on detaching, sync to the local"

Hmm. That shouldn't be too hard to whip up...

    Something like this:

    http://archive.macosxlabs.org/rsyncx/rsyncx.html

Would that be a suitable alternative to Superduper?
