ownership of files on external drive
I am trying to set up auxiliary user folders on an external firewire drive, but I can't seem to get the ownership to stay put. No matter what person I log in as, when I list the files it shows that user as the owner of all the directories on the external drive, no matter who created which folder.
Is that normal? And if so, how do you change it? I logged in as root and did a chown on the files, and I got owner "unknown" from ls, but getinfo still showed the currently logged in user as the owner.
[never mind - I found the "ignore ownership on this volume" tag in the partition info]
