How does a mac mini or a macbook non pro work with final cut HD. Is it choppy or is it smooth.

Pretty smooth the gpu isn't very involved in fcp, just load up on ram and you're good to go. Stuff like motion is where you'll wish for a separate gpu, not for regular edits in fcp.

FCP works alright, not great though. The small screen size also makes it difficult, I'm sure it would be fine would small quick edits, but not for anything advanced.

How does Final Cut Express HD work on those machines.

FCE HD works fine. Like we said, Motion is really the only app that isn't productive at all on a MacBook or a Mini.

See Apple, this is why you should've left it as ibook and powerbook. People abbreviate Macbook Pro to Macbook.
