itunes causing computer crashing??

Hi, was just wondering if anyone had had the same problem as me or anyone who knows why this is happening, i recently installed itunes on my windows xp home pc and my computer just switched off while i was importing cds, now it does this nearly every time i import, i can maybe import one with out it switching off but you can guarantee the next one will cause it to turn off, im not sure if its crashing but it just switches off , the lights are still on but its not in standby and i have to hold the power button to turn it off completely before i can get it back on, it doesnt do this any other time other than when i import cds with itunes, i have the newest version of itunes, i have no virus that im aware of (running NIS 2006). Any ideas anyone? Sam.
