Is wireless printing ever truly wireLESS

I imagined that printing could be truly wireless, (like my lap top is, for example) and that i could send print documents through the air and they would come out the printer. Am i wrong? All set ups i can see involve a cable (in addition to a power cable of course) connecting printer to the router.



I have a netgear wirless broadband router and an HP Deskjet 5740 which i use with my Mac powerbook. I don't think the deskjet can be used in a wirelsss et up anyway, cables or not. Am I right?

HP makes a slew of wireless print server routers, some built-in to the printer itself. So, yes you can walk around with your laptop and print to the HP wirelessly.

For an existing printer like you have, the adapter is wireless to USB.
