iPod phone (iphone) competition
There have been rumors for years about a "iphone". I don´t doubt for a second that Apple will make a phone, the question is when. Now seems like good time since most Mobile companies are merging functions into the phone. You now see cameras, music, chat, syncing and so on merging together in cell phones. It´s a part of the digital hub. Sony Ericcson is rumored to release a phone with 5.1MP camera in it, good enough for the casual photographer...and quality getting better and better. You have phones with same capacity as iPod nano...you get the picture
If Apple wants to be appart of the digital future they have no choice but to make a phone, and they have to make it good, with all tis hype they are gonna be slaugthered if not. 8) I doubt they will blow our socks of with new unseen features but rather make a solid entrance with ease of use and integration as the key features. The competition on phones are tough so they won´t have a easy match.
Maybe there is a reason for Apple searcing for Sr. RF Wireless Engineer in the iPod division? "Design and qualification expertise with IEEE 802.11, Bluetooth, 3G, UWB, and similiar wireless technologies required..."

For those of you who don´t se the need of a phone and suggest Apple should stick to iPods have a look at this one...and think of the average user who wants a phone and a mp3 player. Why have two gadgets in your pocket?
