MacBook Pro stolen?

Hello board,

I'm a "switcher", I got my feet wet with an older G3 with OS X 10.2.8 etc. I love it and am now shopping for a macbook pro. I have found a couple on Craig's list but am wondering, is there a way to research if my potential new macbook pro has been stolen? Obviouisly, I need to know this info BEFORE I buy the laptop.

    Ask the serial number (+a photo of it) and get it checked by apple.

    Great suggestion. A friend of mine did the same and Apple was happy to check it for them.

    Generally though, I like to order from Apple always.
