10.3.9 Update Combined problem--please help!

Hey, I just got a mac (used). So far it's great, but whenever I try to download the 10.3.9 Update combo, I get this thing:

"The Update MAC OS X Update Combined could not be verified and expanded correctly.

make sure you have permission to write to /temp/501/temporaryitems/com.apple.softwareupdate, then try again."

I then tried to download it manually, and was told that the "the disk images failed to mount" because "there were no mountable file systems."

What should I do?

Thanks.

Try repairing disk permissions with Disk Utility

I found this thread via Google.

Strangely enough, he attributes the problem (I think) to a checksum error due to bad RAM. Bizarre.

Worth a shot though, I suppose.

    ^Thanks for the link.

The company I bought the computer from is going to send me the update on a disk. Hopefully that'll work. I sent them that link too, though, just in case it is something to do with the RAM.

What was the file size of the download? Maybe it did not download completely.
