% battery charge

Hey,

I've noticed that when my battery gets down to around 15-20%, saying it has about 30min left, it simply turns off. When I turn it back on, it says it has 0% charge. Is this just an issue that would be solved by getting a new batter or an issue with the computer's "battery time reader", or whatever you'd call it?

Thanks!

640 RAM

30 gb harddrive

Also, if it makes any difference, I have the energy saver "longest possible battery life" going.

You have to calibrate your battery. This means: charge the battery to max, then let your iBook run on battery until it shuts down. Then recharge it without using it (i.e. over night).

If you have a very old battery, though, and have never calibrated it in the mean time, it might be broken... See the documentation that came with your iBook for more information on calibration.

Or you might have to reset the PMU (power management unit). Google or Apple's support sites are your friend.
