Audio not working in browsers

I don't know when this started, but audio is not working in either Safari or Firefox. It doesn't play for online flash files, online videos, etc. It must be a system problem since its happened to both browsers (and there's nothing i can fix in their individual preferences). Please help! Thanks!

Hi Stacey. Still having the problem?

On your Mac, in the "utilities" folder (in Finder, go to the "go" menu and choose "utilities") should be an application named "audio midi setup". Open that program. In there are settings for your audio. Make sure that the settings for the output are set to "44.1 kHz" and "16-bit".

here is a screenshot of the settings you should have:

With those settings saved and your browsers re-started, does that solve the problem?
