Enabler will not install
Open the package up, go through the license agreements, and then select the destination drive – and there are all ! marks by them, even my Macintosh HD. 
To answer the other question – yes its Core 2 Duo, as per the system profiler. I got it September 14th 2006.
I'm running the latest update ( 8 ) from late September.

Answer: Install the late January Airport update first. This was my last step before calling Apple.
