Click on the song and then press cmd+i. It'll open a window with 3 tabs. click on the middle one (tags) and enter it there.
if you want to add the same information to a group of songs (say you encoded a cd without getting the cddb info, so it just says track 1, 2,3 etc), select all of them and then add any information that applies to all of them (e.g., artist, album, number of tracks, genre...). HTH.
