is there a counter-strike type game for the mac?

I absolutely love counter-strike. Obviously, it doesn't work on a Mac...I can't afford to keep around a PC just for one game...is there something on the mac that is remotely like it? I like talking to my teammates, having to work together, fragging the bad guys, playing exclusively online, etc.

What games should I look into? I have a QuickSilver 2002 800mhz G4 with a radeon 7500 and plenty of ram & hard drive

    Ghost Recon

It is a lot different than most first person shooters. I'd call it Rainbow Six minus the eight hours of planning time per mission.

You can be a Rifleman, Support Expert, Demo Man, or Sniper. The missions can involve rescuing pinned down troops, planting demo charges on a bridge, rescuing hostages, etceteras. And it is usually one shot one kill... you know, kind of like how bullets act in real life.

If you pick it up and want to play, message me on AIM: cornerj4

Quake 3 and UrbanTerror Mod is almost exactly like counter-strike but better I would say.

Check out <a href="http://www.urbanterror.net"; target="_blank">www.urbanterror.net</a> for more info

My vote is for Ghost Recon, though it's not very much like Counter-Strike. Urban Terror is a better CS replacement, but GhR is tons of fun. Check out the free <a href="http://macgamefiles.com/detail.php?item=17400"; target="_blank">demo</a>. If you want to find other likeminded mac gamers for some online gaming, in just about any mac game, check out <a href="http://www.gameranger.com"; target="_blank">gameranger</a>. Most mac games have built in support for it, it's like the mac version of gamespy, but much, much smaller. If you're just getting into mac gaming you should check out <a href="http://www.insidemacgames.com"; target="_blank">IMG</a> and <a href="http://www.macgamefiles.com"; target="_blank">MGF</a>.

The majority of the people on GameRanger make the folks in Future Hardware and Fireside Chat look like Saints

Kind of why I haven't been able to find a long enough stick to touch GameRanger with over the past year or so...
