Euro version 3G iPhones in the U.S.

I'm not a cell phone tech guru... is it even possible (using a euro version iPhone in the U.S. if unlocked etc)? If it is possible is anyone here considering it?

    Just looking for a phone that's also an iPod, not that I don't think the iPhone is amazing.
