I'm staying at a friend's house, and using their wireless I can receive mail fine but can't send. I get the follwing message:

ERROR

This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered.

The connection to the server "smtp.mac.com" on port 25 timed out.

What can I do to sort this out?

Make sure that the account preferences has Authentication --> Password with your User Name and Password. The port and smtp server info you list are correct.

If that doesn't work, it may be that your friend's ISP simply prohibits any other smtp server over their network. If that is the case, then use a web browser and log on to your dot mac account:

    http://www.mac.com

That traffic will go over port 80 and all will be good!
