pairing iphone with ipod video

This just struck me. 1- I want to know if it is possible - or if it would be easy to make happen; 2- I want to know if it is even a good idea.



Can one pair a hard-drive based ipod with the iphone. You know, some connecter that puts them back to back with each other such that you can play your movies on the iphone without filling up the memory of the iphone. . .

    I mean, if one could use the iphone as a little portable screen for the myriad hard-drives that are out there, would that generate a host of advantages? Or, just the obvious?
