Help with iTunes played from External Hard Drive

I have all of my iTunes music on an external hard drive. I just got a new PC laptop and installed the latest iTunes application. I have already changed the location of the iTunes music folder in Preferences>Advanced so that it reads the songs from the E: drive. So now... how do I get all the song titles to show up in iTunes on the new laptop like I used to see on the old computer? I want to play the music from the external drive and NOT copy it to the local drive.

    Re-import? Drag the entire directory of songs on the external drive into iTunes. Might take a while depending on how many songs you have, but it regenerates the library file.
