smaller themes for keynote

I have put two free themes up on the internet, but was very disappointed with the size. They ended up being almost 12M apiece or 7-8M compressed as .sit files.

Since then I have been trying to find a way to make the files smaller. I think I have it.

If you are making backgrounds in photoshop, save the background (by itself in a document with no other layers) as a photoshop PDF file. Instead of 1.4M the background came out to be 200k. Now I know there may be image loss and if you used a higher compression for jpeg the theme may be larger.

This theme, from an old book (hence its' name) was saved as a compressed .sit file to 1.2M. It does not include any graph backgrounds as the default looks fine with a lowered transparency. There are thirteen distinct backgrounds in this theme, because of the number of photoholes included.

If you are considering sending themes to people, or making them available for download, this might be the way to go.
