Are Autoudate files left on the hard drive?
Today when I turned on my ibook Office 2004 downloaded an update. I did a search for the update program (based on "contains update" and "type is app": and couldn't find it . I then did a search based on just the word "update" and got all kinds of large OS X update files, mostly residing in the cache folder of my library. For example: MacOSXUpdateCombo10.3.7.tar sits in library/cache/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate/a1036.g.akamai.net/5/1036...etc.
1) Do MS autoupdates installers reside on the server?
2) Are the cache files for various Apple system updates the actual updates, or garbage left over (I assume the former because of the size)
