AppleCare and Batteries

If I extend my applecare to three years for my macbook pro, does this cover the battery? If it basically dies or the battery life deteriorates to something low like 30 minutes, will it be replaced under applecare?

No, it does not cover batteries.

I called applecare they said it's not a simple yes or no answer. I the battery fails prematurely yes it will be covered but if it just wears out then no. They said that it can be determined which is the case.

I have heard that they will but have no actual experience in the matter. They probably won't advertise it anyways.

My girlfriend purchased a black MacBook and had the battery life shorten to less than an hour and they replaced the battery under AppleCare. Didn't seem to be a problem at all as it took them less than an hour to get her a new one.
