Can't insall AE CS3 after trashing trial version

I didn't read the uninstall instructions, and trashed the trial version of After Effects CS3 as soon as my retail copy arrived. Despite deleting everything I can find to do with AE8, every time I try to install I get this:

JavaScript Alert

Critical errors were found in setup

- Incompatible payloads already installed

Please see the Setup log file for details.

Download the trial again, reinstall and uninstall, then try installing the retail version.

Did you delete the AE stuff in /Library/Application support/Adobe? That's where all your CS3 stuff goes though so be careful what you delete. You might want to move the folder out of there, install CS3 and then move stuff back.

Adobe installers are a real pain.

What does your setup log say btw?

I removed everything I can find, and I can't see a setup log anywhere.
