Penryn, Looking Good
Ars has a piece on penryn. Apparently someone got a hold of some penryn chips and tested them. Clock for clock about 10% faster than Conroe.
Quite surprising to me because I didn't expect much in the way of architectural improvements until Nahalem. Some benchmark tests were much higher. Also runs much cooler and less power hungry. All in all, looks like something to look forward to.
