calculate iMovie export files

hi All,



surely there must be a way to calculate how

large an export is going to be from iMovie

to QT format? right?! i cannot locate anything

on it by googling, but it would be mighty handy

to know if the export is going to fit on a

CD before actually encoding it (i know you will

get to know after a while, but with a

500MHz machine, who has the patience to experiment

that much?).

    Not really, because of the way Quicktime compresses the image: basically it looks at what parts change from frame to frame, and doesn't bother to encode anything for those parts which are static.



    So, a half-hour movie of solid blue would be miniscule, whereas one with lots of skaters flying all over the show will be huge.
