I got my 3500$ mac pro 2 days ago....and ive been hit with nothing but trouble. Im getting pop ups and browser hijackings and the only websites ive gone on are google, this, and ign. Ive never once had any pop up problems on my pc. ever. and I dint even use a firewall. My computer also will freeze and go to a black screen whenever I play a game and say no signal. there seems to be no way to get out of this besides powering down and restarting. 2 days and im already getting this crap? and for 3500$....what trash.

    You're describing PC/Windows problems...

What browser are you using? Is popup blocking enabled? Remember popups from the web browser has nothing to do with the OS. If it's Firefox you're using, remember it's functionally nearly identical on all platforms. I get the occasional single pop-under on all browsers, on any platform, (and there are FF extensions that super-block even that) and never a highjacking.

You're either super lucky, exaggerating, or you got malware and you didn't know it.

Command+Option+Escape can force-quit stuck apps. What game?

Are you sure you didn't boot into XP and that's where you're having all of these problems? You're really describing the Windows/PC experience, not the Mac experience...

Run your disk utility program and make sure everything is ok.

Finder(happy face on dock) -> Applications -> Utilities -> Disk utility

Run that and report back with your results.

Im actually not lying or making anything up...Im calling apple tomorrow because My computer keeps freezing. A mac is like any other piece of hardware. Hardware does occasionally have faults. (I think I have a hardware problem) and im sure my browser hijack was just bad luck. I just think its kind of funny and ironic. And no, Im not a troll, thanks for insulting me though, it just shows how much of an ignorant mac fanboy you are. :] also somebody told me that warcraft 3 was designed before the intel macs were out and that it runs buggy on them...so far its locked up my computer 3 times and ive only played it 3 times. ive played prey about 10 times and its never locked up. you think that could be it?

p.s. I appreciate the people who actually replied by trying to help me and not making fun/ calling me a troll.

I guess I'd have to know more specifically what you mean by "browser hijack". Usually that means some app loads a web page in the default web browser, but does it in a window or tab that already has a web page loaded. That's solvable by setting the browser to always load externally-called pages in a new tab or window. And again, that has nothing to do with the OS and everything to do with the browser.

I have no clue about this game, but this might help.

P.S. We appreciate the people who actually post questions about their Mac on a Mac-oriented forum by asking questions without saying "what trash".

It's this "browser hijack" nonsense that is causing people to call you out on this.

basically, i started firefox, and my homepage was a porn site ( I havnt even started watching porn on my mac yet and i get a porn hijack) It was a window that had no adress bar so i just closed it, and restarted firefox.

Where did you buy it, maybe the guy who installed the RAM used the computer before you. There is no way Firefox starts up to anything but the Firefox Google home page on any FireFox install I have done. I'd look into where you bought it, maybe it was used before and not properly restored. If it was the Apple Online Store or a Retail Store then I have no idea why this would happen.

Odd, I just flagged you as a troll in another thread. Very much a troll.

Get over it. Apple is not trollable anymore. The mac is cool. Over the last five years Apple has made investors more money than any combination of public companies involved in the PC experience, which as far as I'm concerned makes them VERY cool. You've lost, get over it.

Also, I have to say that there's a certain zen-ness about mac users. I think I speak for most of us when I say that, if we needed to boot into windows, we'd just buy a windows license and not worry about hunting down an illegal, cracked version. I know that I don't have anything personal against Microsoft. Several of my friends work for MS (god help them ).

ORLY? I've never even had that happen on windows, much less Mac, and I've been using PC's since the DOS days.

    Personally,

I think his thread title alone should give him at least one more opportunity at credibility in these forums. It gave me a chuckle, I won't lie...

I can't help but picture this guy saying it either.

Just Google "2099 Vista ReArm". It is a well publicised hack now, and I believe Microsoft patches it in the latest updates to Vista.
