Splitting Cable Tv

i have two hdtvs and one cable outlet. I get basic cable and want to split the cable to both of them. Is it as simple as buying a splitter and plugging them both in? Can i watch both tvs at the same time on different channels?

    Yes, you can use a splitter to send cable to different televisions and watch different shows at the same time.

    you might need to get a cable amplifier. you can try it woithout, but if it there is allot of static on either of the TV's, and cable amplifier will fix this.
