Heat/Stress cracks on MacBook

I've had my MacBook (Core2) for 9 months now and I've noticed that under regular use the fan runs constantly, regardless of whether I'm on battery or AC. Also, it seems that due to the constant heat output there are small stress/heat cracks forming along the edge of the fan output and hinge area on the bottom part of the case. Has anyone else heard of this? I've never read about any heat/case issues with MacBooks before.
