X11 install

Hi new member here.



I'm on 5g imac 10.4.10 and wondering where I can download x11 from. I lost the install cd, and want to use gimp. thanks.

    Current versions of X11 are not available for download. They can be installed from your System Restore disc or from a shrinkwrap distribution copy of MacOS X 10.4.



    BTW, by "5g," do you mean "G5"?

    Whats the system resore disk?

    That's the disc that shipped with your computer. It holds the complete contents of your computer's hard drive as shipped + optional installations.

    You can try using XDarwin:

    That should let you use Gimp. Of course Photoshop Elements is pretty cheap now but it's a shame it's still not a universal binary.



    If it's for basic editing, Seashore might be ok - it's based on GIMP and native:

    XDarwin.org's X11 distribution dates back to 2004, which is intended for MacOS X 10.3, IIRC.
