I haven't heard of any rumors about a Prosumer app. I was hoping Apple would create an iApp based on music. Rumors had it that they were working on something called iTraks or something.
Apple bought eMagic, so technically Logic 6 is the closest thing to an Apple branded music app so far. But maybe Apple will create an "iMusic" app based on Logic. That would be really good.
and many others have very cools stuff for free. The more users who have access to their products the better.
Core Audio alone supports some nifty sounds in the format of DLS(Downloadable Sounds) and Music Device Instruments that totally blow those old Cheesy Roland Midi sounds away.
Simply just add a USB keyboard and most users are set.
Will Emagic's software ever be the under the Apple brand? Will Logic ever appear on Apple's website? I guess I am a little confused on the acquisition...

Think Claris/Filemaker. Not many people realize that Apple owns FM. Emagic will remain the same IMO.
Yeah I am aware Apple owns FileMaker... I just think it would be a strong product under the Apple brand...it does not make much sense to keep it as a separate division <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Guess if it's true we'll have to wait.
By todays standards it would not be worth the $99 or so they charged but it would make the basis for a nice iApp.
I don't think consumers realize the quality of todays sound that are available with the processing power of todays computers.
I'd like to see an iApp that
1. Supports up to 8 audio tracks
2. Supports 2-4 channels of midi
3. Support Core Audio.
This would open up the nifty world of sound creation to Millions of new users.
Most people have no idea about how many free plugings are created
