Clamshell i-book: removal of OS 9 system folder

On my clamshell i-book, which I now run with OS 10.3 without problems, I am desparate to free some memory.

I have already removed all the data, but of the three GB, almost one is occupied by the OS 9 "System folder". Can I safely remove the whole folder (I have the OS 10 folder called "system"), or will I run into difficulties (like during starting up the computer or with any software)?

Of course, I do not use any OS 9 software on the computer any more and would like to remove the OS 9 "applications" folder as well, but I do not expect that to be a problem, or am I wrong?

Thanks for any help!

If you never use "Classic Environment" (or boot into OS9) then you are free to remove that folder. The OS9 Apps can be deleted as well if you don't use them.

You'll be freeing up hard-disk space, not memory... but I assume that's what you intended to say.

Thanks, KingOfSomewhereHot, that's what I was hoping to read. And yes, I meant hard-disk space, I am learning the lingo too.
