Can't delete files saved to unmounted drive

Greetings,

Recently some files were saved to an unmounted external hard drive. The files ended up on my internal hard drive but accessing them has been difficult since the unmounted drive does not show up on my desktop (otherwise I'd just eject it). The only time I'm able to view the unmounted drive is when I select the "save as" to "Volumes" option from an application (the external hd shows up as a generic blue folder icon). Unfortunately, because I'm in "save as" mode, I can only view the contents of the unmounted drive (they are grayed out), and am unable to delete any files or eject the drive. The current file size on the unmounted drive is roughly 10gb and I'd like to clear it off my internal hd if possible. I'm on a Powermac G5 running 10.3.9. The external drive is a Western Digital "My Book".

Any ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Cuello

Use the Finder Go menu and then choose go to folder and type /Volumes.
